Tim Southee's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was versus the English side in December 2024.

England fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is still working through what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.

The former Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be present for the opening match because of his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.

The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.

Speaking as the English team for the first of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was announced, Southee stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.

"We will determine the outcome over the coming days."

England pace icon Broad had declared the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which begins on November 21.

"I don't think there's ever a poor Aussie side," he remarked.

"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [England's] team that's heading out to the host country is excellent.

"It ought to be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I think the entire cricketing community is."

But, before the English team travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
